June 2026 Newsletter

Hello!

June marks the end of school and the start of summer for us girls, and we're so excited! (Yes, school's important, no, that doesn't make us any less happy to get a break.) We're all looking forward to the fun trips planned and the relatives we'll get to see. I hope you all have had a wonderful start to your warmer months as well!

At the start of June, my Girl Scout troop came over to our house to learn about car care from my dad. We discovered how to change a tire, where all the fluids go, and many more things that can save you a pricy trip to a mechanic. I love to remind everyone that this 2010 Subaru Forester that I drive has a 4-cylinder boxer engine, the same as many Porsche models. Basically, this car is part Porsche. :)

Miriam and Hannah got to see so many cool creatures this month- alive and not. The Burke Museum in Seattle has 'free first Thursdays' where you can go in all day for free! My mom and them have taken advantage of this several times the last month or so. This time they brought along a bunch of friends from school! Here they are in front of the skeleton of a Mastodon.

My sisters experienced talking to some scientists from the Seattle Aquarium at the beach. It was extreme low tide at Seahurst park, and so these scientists talked to the kids while they looked in the tide pools most people rarely see. Miriam and Hannah found so many shells, and most had creatures inside!

This past week all of us were at Girl Scout Valley Day Camp. Miriam and Hannah were campers, and I was a Camp Aide, helping to run camp. It was a great experience, even when temperatures reached 90 (F) and above. The campers favorite way to cool off was to use the water guns at water play and wage a war against all of us CAs. It was definitely tiring, but also really valuable. Here I am with all the other CAs!

Our raspberry bushes out back have been very prosperous so far. Miriam and Hannah have loved picking them (and eating them). We get this much per day! We usually freeze about half and try to eat the other half. One of the ways I used them was in this raspberry chocolate tart I made!

Happy June!
