August 2026 Newsletter

Hello!

     The last month of summer has been bittersweet. We had so many fun visits from family and trips to see friends. This past week we've been back to school shopping and setting up backpacks, which is a change from carefree days spent in the local river or camping and paddle boarding on lakes. I am going into my sophomore year in high school, Hannah's going into second grade, and Miriam's going into fourth grade.  

    Grandma and Grandpa made the drive to visit us for a bit. We had a wonderful time and want to thank them for coming up! Grandma helped us girls with our needlework and they got to watch Miriam and Hannah's soccer practices. Something I would like to thank them for is the amazing gift of my first car. After they drove it up, they left their BMW X3 with me. I am so grateful and honestly shocked. I appreciate that Grandpa spent the time cleaning it up and then showing me the ropes. I'll be getting my driver's license in October, when I'm turning sixteen. This was a wonderful visit!

     Miriam and Hannah had their horse summer camps while I went to Eastern Washington with my youth group. We all had fun with our various activities. Me with my cliff jumping (into water, don't worry :) and Miriam and Hannah with their horse best friends and artwork.

     Every year we have a tradition of camping with our Canadian friends. This year we drove up to Vancouver Island and stayed at Horne Lake Regional Park. It was a blast! We swam and paddle boarded all day (watch out for the leeches!), and I even went on a 4 hour cave tour where you had to slide on your stomach to fit through some spaces! You can see our group below in our very stylish caving suits. Days were spent playing frisbee and card games, or running around in a high-stakes game of man-hunt.

     Mom, Miriam, Hannah, and I went to the Renaissance Faire and we got to see many dressed up fairies and princes. There were knights with full armor and vendors hawking wares from horns to potions. It was a fun experience! My favorite parts were the falconry show and the horse show. It was so cool so see owls swoop by and performers shoot arrows from the saddle.
